AUSTIN – State Rep. Dianne White Delisi (R-Temple) announces that HB 889 (relating to certain actions that constitute unlawful acts against the Medicaid program) was signed by the Governor Rick Perry.  Rep. Delisi made the following statement:


"House Bill 889 will protect Texas taxpayers by enabling the Texas attorney general to use civil enforcement powers to combat Medicaid fraud resulting from unlawful kickbacks.  Not only will this protect the taxpayer, it will be of benefit to our seniors and disabled who participate in the Medicaid system.  I commend my colleagues in the legislature and the governor for enacting this legislation."


Rep. Delisi worked closely  with Attorney General Greg Abbott and his staff in the creation of this legislation.  Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) was the Senate sponsor.
