Temple State Rep. Dianne White Delisi announced today that she has been honored by the Austin Business Journal as a Health Care Hero in the category of Civics and Government. The award was announced at an event held in Austin and cited Rep. Delisi's push for innovation in health care throughout her legislative career.
"Innovation may be the key to improving our country's health care crisis, and Texas State Representative Dianne White Delisi may be the person to lead the way," stated the Austin Business Journal's awards presentation. "Known for her creative health care initiatives, Delisi is a formidable force on the Legislative floor."
The citation also referenced Rep. Delisi's collegial approach to passing legislation that focuses on the merits of the bills and sets politics aside. Each piece of health care legislation considered by Rep. Delisi is reviewed with a three-part test. A good piece of legislation has to improve health outcomes, increase efficiency, and lead to decreased costs over time.
The awards citation also touched upon Rep. Delisi's legislative initiatives to better integrate information technology into health care.
"We have to look for new and innovative ways to run the health care machine," Delisi stated. "We are such a mobile society now that it becomes crucial that we integrate information technology into the world of health care."
The Austin Business Journal's annual Health Care Heroes Award is now in its third year. Awards are given in nine different categories, ranging from physicians to health care education providers.
