Austin State Representative Dianne White Delisi today was recognized as a "Champion for Free Enterprise" by the Texas Association of Business. Delisi scored a perfect 100 percent voting record on key business issues before the Texas Legislature. There were only ten other members of the Texas House who also had perfect scores out of a body with 150 members.
"I am committed to keeping our state's business climate attractive both to existing companies in Texas and those who may wish to relocate here," Delisi stated. "I am pleased that my willingness to vote for jobs and economic growth was noticed by the Texas Association of Business."
The Texas Association of Business announcement of the award praised Delisi's "stellar pro-business, pro-Texas voting record in the 79th Legislative Session." Delisi's perfect score was a full 31 points higher than the average for the House chamber of 69 percent.
"The award winners are pro-job lawmakers committed to improving the economic prosperity of all Texans and who deserve special recognition," said Texas Association of Business President Bill Hammond.
According to Hammond, elected officials like Delisi went beyond "talking the pro-business talk" to steadfastly "walking the walk when it came time to vote."
"I understand that a private sector job is the single greatest social program ever invented," Delisi said. "A growing economy is also what generates the revenues to fund our public schools, public safety needs, and health care for the indigent."
"We can't just take our state's positive business climate for granted," Delisi concluded. "I think about the impact on the Texas economy of every vote I cast as a legislator."
